"If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation" - African Proverb
Saha Global equips women in rural communities with the resources necessary to provide clean water and electricity to their villages through helping women establish businesses. Since 2007, they have launched 120 water treatment facilities and 28 solar energy outposts, and 100% of these businesses are still in operation today. On May 28th, 2018, I will have the opportunity to work as a field representative as a part of Saha Global's International Team of Social Enterprise. This is an experience of a lifetime, as I will begin a journey to serve and aid those in need of better conditions. As a native of Jackson, Mississippi, I have witnessed poverty first hand and the reality of life for people without access to resources that many, including myself, take for granted. I am a 2016 graduate of Alabama State University, holding a BA in Theatre Arts and minor in public relations. I have had the honor of representing my school as Miss ASU and serving as a Golden Ambassador. I was inducted into the Dramatic Guild Society; served as a member of Pathways and SGA Events Committee chair. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Alpha Kappa Mu national honors society. As a graduate student at Texas A&M University, I am currently privileged to be continuing my education and studying Non-Profit Management. My studies have cemented my passion and drive to make the world around me better. With this opportunity, I look forward to making those changes putting to use my own two hands. Any donation you provide toward my $3,500 goal, will directly pay for the start-up costs of a new water treatment facility, as well as used to create awareness for the issues facing the people of Ghana and many other nations. Through this experience, I hope to bolster my knowledge about the reality of the world. Realities that studying alone cannot prepare one to understand and address genuinely. That said, we all have roles to play, and some of us cannot make the journey to help in person as I plan to. However, you can be just as a part of my trip and provide just as much help by supporting this cause and helping change a life, one step at a time.
