SafeNest is Nevada’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Our mission is to end domestic violence one client at a time by offering a full range of services based on prevention, protection and empowerment.
The need for preventive and crisis services are greater than ever before. National statistics show that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. In Nevada, that statistic increases to 1 in 3. Nevada is ranked second in the country for domestic violence homicides. We must do better as a community and as Nevadans.
In our continuing effort to end domestic violence, SafeNest is participating in the Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Challenge. This annual campaign, which coincides with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, aims to promote financial empowerment to victims of domestic violence. Research shows that financial abuse occurs in 99% of domestic violence cases and is often cited as the main reason a victim either stays or returns to an abusive partner.
The more money SafeNest raises during the month of October, the more we “win” in funding and prizes from Allstate.
