TWANA , is a faith-based nonprofit organization looking to develop a Safe Haven Program for children at risk of gang recruitment. It easy to advise the youth to stay out of trouble but what tools or support are we providing in the interim. These children still have to walk through the neighbor's saturated by the same gang members threatening them to join. Some of the youths have been brutally beaten for refusing initiation.
We can direct the youth to seek police assistance but does that makes sense, considering the youth is still residing in the same community as the gang. In order to protect the youth and families, we need to remove the youth from that community and then proceed with legal actions.
Our goal is to develop a Safe Haven Program in each state, we started with our first in NY.
We urge you to join our cause and donate, Children should not be afraid to leave their home for school.
