The Sackets Harbor ambulance is dispatched to around 250 emergency calls a year. We proudly serve the Village of Sackets Harbor, Town of Hounsfield, and surrounding areas. Our agency is composed of 10 emergency medical technicians, 6 emergency medical services students, as well as multiple firefighters and medical support personnel. We never charge our patients for medical aid or transportation. Our ambulance is completely free and fully staffed by hardworking volunteers. The Sackets Harbor ambulance receives no funding from the town, village or fire department and no tax revenue is used to support our agency. Our future relies solely on the generosity of our community. This year has posed many new challenges for volunteer EMS. The Covid-19 pandemic has come with a significant financial burden to our agency. This is due to the increased purchasing of protective equipment, decontamination supplies, and a significantly increased call volume. Every emergency we respond to comes with a monetary cost to our agency. General operating cost for day to day functions such as emergency calls, training, purchasing and restocking equipment still exist during this pandemic. Additionally, our agency still has a duty to ensure that we have cutting edge and highly efficient medical equipment for our patients. Any donations would be graciously accepted to ensure the future of our ambulance and the continued safety of our community. Thank you for your support.
