On November 21, Sabitha passed away after a courageous battle with AML leukemia.
Sabitha Devi ("Sunshine Goddess" in Hindi/Sanscrit) was a vibrant woman who loved life, traveled the world, and was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife.
AML, short for "Acute Myeloid Leukemia" is a an aggressive blood cancer that interferes with the production of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. She was diagnosed with AML in July 2019 and began treatment at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI, in August, starting with a round of chemotherapy. She continued with multiple rounds of additional treatments that included a bone marrow transplant (Thank you to the anonymous donor. You're a pure angel!) She committed every ounce of her being to overcome this disease, which she fought until her very last breath at 1:55am on November 21st. Her courage to never give up is an inspiration for us all.
While her physical body has departed this world, her spirit is eternal. We are all saddened by our loss, however, let's use this as a time to come together and find a cure for AML. And, as my mother said, "Let's kick cancer in the arse."
Mom, you are loved and forever in our hearts.
