Walk to the Beat of My Heart
As many of you know, in April of 2020 while I was pregnant with Ryder we found out that he had a Congenital Heart Defect. Every two weeks until he was born we were seeing doctors, cardiologists, surgeons, and neonatal intensivists to monitor Ryder's heart to determine if he would need surgery.
His heart never improved, so we braced ourselves and placed our trust in God and the surgeons to take care of our little warrior. At five days old Ryder had heart surgery and 2 days later our little warrior was able to come home.
Everyday this kid amazes me and if you never knew his story, you would never know the amount of trouble he endured in his first few days of life.
So on Sunday, May 16th our family will walk for the 9th Annual Conquering CHD - Illinois Walk!
Nearly 40,000 infants in the U.S. are born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) every year. CHD is the most common birth defect and the leading cause of infant death due to birth defects. Conquering CHD-Illinois is a non-profit with a mission to conquer CHD. We are Conquering CHD through education, support, research and advocacy. But we are unique in our approach – encompassing the lifespan, encouraging transparency, and meeting families where they are.
With your help we have a goal of raising $500 to help support a group that supported our family.
