As many of you know running the NYC Marathon has been a goal of mine for some time. As many of you also know, my wife, Ali, and I volunteer for Distinguished Doberman's Rescue, Inc., (DDR) a 501c3 not for profit dog rescue based out of Pennsylvania. We adopted our two dogs, Frankie and Itchy, from DDR and they have brought tremendous joy to us and our families, especially my late mother, Elaine Heilmann, and late father in law, Richard Simons, - both of whom were animal lovers and advocates. I figure what better to way to marry a goal of mine with a cause that means so much to us (and meant so much to our parents) than to run for Distinguished Dobermans Rescue and help them continue to change the lives of others (both furry and human). Every little bit counts and goes a long way in the rescue world, and I know the folks at DDR will forever be indebted. Ali and I will certainly be forever grateful for your support of me on race day and of those furry pals who many of us have welcomed into our lives. Thank you in advance!
