When you're a little kid, your fondest memories are spent with your grandparents. Having them spoil you with love and material objects and tons of food. I can easily say some of my best childhood memories were spent with my grandmother and grandfather. Unfortunately, January 26th 2020, cancer robbed my grandfather from us. The terminal illness took over his body and won the battle that he was trying so hard to defeat. Although he physically isn't here to walk this journey of life with me any longer, I carry him everywhere with me. This demonic illness claims the lives of many and wins many battles that it should not win. Many people lose loved ones to this awful illness. I am running in the NYC 2020 Marathon supporting the slogan "Running4aCour: towards cancer" to honor the lives of those that have fallen to this illness; those special individuals like my "papa" Raymond Courbron. I am fundraising to honor those who were taken too soon due to this illness. Running4aCour: towards cancer symbolizes running for a cure. I will do my hardest to raise as much money as I can to donate towards a cancer foundation, one such as "AKTIV against cancer". AKTIV against cancer supports physical activity to help defeat and overcome cancer while individuals are fighting for their lives. AKTIV against cancer has a mission of of working to ensure that physical activity will become a regular part in cancer treatment. I ask my family and friends to not only cheer me on while I take on this huge accomplishment on Sunday November 1st as I accomplish running 26.2 miles, but please also support my fundraiser, any little bit helps and the more donated the closer we will come towards defeating cancer.
