We are raising money to support the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin at the Capital City 5K in Madison on July 27th. Our team, Running to Remember Ben, walks and runs in memory of my brother, Benjamin Lee Koppa.
Ben was taken too soon in a car accident caused by a distracted driver, in 2006. He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, friend, engineer, sport-enthusist, and truly an amazing guy. There is not enough space to tell all the amazing things Ben was to so many. He is missed.
This event is so very dear to my heart. It happens every year on the anniversary of Ben's death. That Saturday night as we were shaken to our core with indescribable grief, Ben's organ recipients were getting a second chance at life, becuase of Ben's beautiful gifts. I pray that everyone has the strength to give that gift, if they can, if they face that day. Knowing John and his family has changed my outlook on Ben's passing. I miss him more than words can say every single day. I can't bring him back, but there is still a piece of him here, and I will cherish that relationship. Folks, that is #love.
