During my school years, my outlet was sports and music. I always felt alive, empowered and connected to others through the various teams and groups I was apart of.
When life kicked in, I moved away from taking care of me - mentally, physically, and spiritually, I felt, at times, unworthy and lost my passion for life.
I finally decided I needed to do things that made me feel alive and joy in some way. For me, running was that. I loved running in school, and knew if I started back into it, I would feel that energy and passion again.
Fast forward, I have made many changes to put myself back into a more positive outlook of life. I have continued to thrive on challenging myself with running.
In general, running puts me in my happy place. No matter my mood, I can find a way to get around that, and be present with my surroundings and enjoy the movement. In most cases, I always see something new on a run, and that always shifts me back into a more positive place. I would love to see others be able to find that "something" that can help them make that "shift" from the darkest places our minds can go, to a place where we are "not alone" and can see all the possibilities in life there are.
I know we all have experienced those lonely, dark places and either have been or know someone who has lived in those spaces for a long time. This has such a huge impact on that person and on those around them, as a bad decision in one moment can change us all.
I hope you will join me in supporting an organization that wants to help others, like me or you, work through these low points.
Your support will help benefit Depression2Extinction, which is focused on bringing awareness to the stigma surrounding depression and anxiety disorders. D2E wants to eliminate the word depression and replace it with our true feelings.
Through Movement, Mindfulness, and Human Connection, together, we can be the light in the darkness. Learn more at depression2extinction.org.
Let’s all make a difference. Thank you for your support and generosity!
