UPDATE 5/17: We've reached the secondary goal of $1,310 ($50 per mile!). What not keep the party going?! All proceeds go directly to BARN regardless of the amount raised. Race Day is Sunday, May 20th but the fundraiser will stay open for a bit after that. Thank you!
UPDATE 05/11: We've reached the original goal of $1,026.20!
I'm running the Sugarloaf Marathon as my first ever marathon on May 20th, 2018, and am raising money for the Bangor Area Recovery Network in Brewer, Maine.
Many families in Maine have been effected by drug addiction and substance abuse, and BARN is an organization in our area who is on the frontlines working toward a solution to this crisis, and being a support network for those afflicted. Some would say training for, and running, a marathon is painful. But it doesn't compare to the pain families endure as a result of addiction. Supporting BARN is my small way to help ease this pain in our community, because supporting recovery is a community responsibility.
All raised funds go directly to Bangor Area Recovery Network (Tax ID: 27-0363459) through the Crowdrise platform.
Bangor Area Recovery Network (BARN) provides a sustainable and reliable community recovery center that supports the needs of people affected by addiction in Eastern and Central Maine.
Four Pillars of the BARN’s Foundation:
- Recovery is a process
- There are many pathways to recovery
- Recovery overcomes shame and stigma
- Supporting recovery is a community responsibility
