Ive never run a Half Marathon, or any real race for that matter. I've been looking to test myself and finally run one as I've been running a lot on my own lately. When I found that this race landed on a very important day for me I finally decided now is the time.
I will be running my first ever Half Marathon on May 19th, 2019 in honor of my dear friends who left this world too soon. On May 19th, 2008 I received some of the worst news I've ever received. Two of my great friends Ginny and Emily, along with their brother Tim and mother Sherry had all passed away in a tragic home fire. I was beside myself. Ginny was a bright light in my life daily. We had lockers next to each other through middle and high school and regularly kept in touch after school since we were so used to seeing each other every day for so long. Ginny was unique, quirky, funny, loud, obnoxious, loving and caring. She taught me the meaning of being true to ones self, as Ginny didn't always "fit in", but she was never afraid to stand out and be herself. Emily always seemed to have a smile on her face and become the life of the party and shared many of the same traits as her sister. I shared many fond memories with the both of them and only wish they could still be here today, along with their brother and mother, to continue to bring joy to those around them as they did for so many years.
