I am honored to have been chosen as a member of the Running for Rare Diseases Team participating in the 2019 Boston Marahon on April 15, 2019. I will be running to raise money for my son Will's rare disease, homocystinuria (HCU), which is a genetic disorder that impacts his ability to process the amino acid methionine, a building block of protein. Without treatment, children with HCU develop symptoms such as life-threatening blood clots, permanent mental retardation, seizures, dislocated lenses in the eye, and weakening of the bones.
All of the money I raise will go directly to HCU research via HCU Network America (https://hcunetworkamerica.org/). For more information about Will's disorder you can also check out http://www.givewillashot.org.
Thanks for your support of Will and of my run!
