Hey everyone! I am currently training hard for my 4th marathon which will be the Kentucky Derby Marathon in Louisville. My longterm goal is to run a race in each state and raise a little money for something I am passionate about each year.
About 2 years ago, I spent time in a small mountain village in Nepal called Kimche. Here I volunteered with the organization Trek to Teach by teaching small children English. I got to know many of the poeple involved with the school there and made some great relationships. I've seen firsthand the conditions that people live in and it has made me appreciate everything that I have here all the more.
Although that was in the past, I am still in contact with the some of the people I met in Nepal. You would be astonished at the conditions of the school; it's basically a simple brick building with a stone roof. I remember teaching a class there as monsoon rains flooded a classroom. Luckily, the organziation I volunteered for is helping to build new structures there and in other small villages for young students. I am usually one to be weary of donating money but I can say from experience that Trek to Teach is genuinely trying to do good in Nepal.
Please help me raise money for Trek to Teach, so we can help bring some young minds a little more hope in their education. The people there have very little, but I've seen firsthand how lasting a stronger education will be and how much people there appreciate help.
Thank you for your time and wish me luck in the marathon! If you'd like to find out more, please check Trek to Teach at www.trektoteach.org.
