I, Chandon Chhikara, am a senior at Saint Andrew's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. I joined my school's cross country team my sophomore year and was blessed to have Gilbert Tuhabonye introduced into my life due to him being the coach of the SAS XC and Track teams. I quickly fell in love with running due to Gilbert and the St. Andrew's cross country team. Gilbert's life story is an inspiring one as he survived a genocide as a teenager, became an elite runner who competed collegiately and professionally, and now spearheads the effort to provide clean water to his native country, Burundi, through the Gazelle Foundation. My school requires for every senior to complete a "senior project" during the month of May and each senior is challenged to make an impact on the world. I decided for my senior project I would attempt to make a global impact and help give back to my coach who has taught me so much. I am running a half-marathon in Waco, Texas on May 27th and I am trying to raise money for Gilbert and his foundation, The Gazelle Foundation. This will be my first ever half-marathon and I have dedicated my month of May to training for it and raising money for The Gazelle Foundation through this endeavor. I am asking for a donation of $13.10 to represent the 13.1 miles I will be running, but anything helps!!! Now let's go raise money, run a half-marathon, and provide clean water to Burundi!
