This upcoming March I'll be participating in the Shamrock'n Half Marathon that helps to raise money for Triumph Cancer Foundation. The race itself supports cancer survivorship, and honors those whose lives have been touched by cancer. As an individual, I would like to take the opportunity to fundraise for Experience Camps as well, and support all the campers and families whose lives have been touched by this experience.
Experience Camps are free one-week camps for boys and girls who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. It's a place where kids can laugh, cry, play, create, remember the person who died, or forget the grief that weighs them down. It's a place where they can feel "normal", because everyone there has been through something similar and understands what it's like to lose someone important to them. It's a home away from home. And just about everyone will tell you..."It's the best week of the year".
I have been volunteering as a counselor for ExCamps for 2 years, and cannot wait to return this upcoming summer! This program is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that is supported entirely by donations to help provide a free week of fun so that no one is turned away from camp if they are unable to afford it, and no child has to grieve alone. Every dollar donated to ExCamps is put back into the program to support the campers' experience in full. It is an incredible, lifechanging program that I am so grateful to be a part of, and want to support however I am able to in the off-season.
Please help me fundraise for this amazing program so we can support as many campers as possible in the upcoming summer! Any amount makes a difference and directly goes back to the campers' experience of the best week ever! Thank you for taking the time to read this, and wish you all the best! :)
