I've never considered myself a runner nor enjoyed the act of running. Prior to Sep2018, the farthest I've ever ran in one go is 5km and I swore I wouldn't do it again. But hey, 2019 is around the corner - new year, new goals, right?! With a little push from friends (and a dose of fomo), this is the perfect reason to bring me back to NYC!
While this will be a challenge for me, there are numerous challenges that youth in our communities face everyday. Concrete Safaris (a nonprofit I'm personally involved with) helps educate and empower youth in East Harlem to become healthy and active leaders by shaping their environment through outdoor education, play, exploration and community engagement.
It would mean a lot to me and the children if you could continue to help make that possible for them with any amount of donation!
East Harlem children suffer from some of the highest rates of obesity and diabetes in New York City. Many kids that Concrete Safaris works with lack consistent access to safe outdoor spaces to play and exercise and to healthy food. Concrete Safaris addresses these issues by working with youth to grow food in community gardens, and to play, exercise and explore the outdoors. You can help grow Concrete Safaris' after-school and other programs with your donation. To learn more about CS and its programs, check out: http://www.concretesafaris.org/en/.
Concrete Safaris is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit -- Your contributions are tax-deductible.
Thank you so much for your support!!
