Running the Boston Marathon had always been a dream of mine! I love running and the thrill of pushing myself to go a little bit further and a little bit faster. So I decided 2018 was the year I would conquer my fears and run 26.2 miles from Hopkinton back into the city I love!
AND THEN came the pounding rain and the winds! I thought I would never make it back to Boston. But I did! I never thought I could be that strong but I made it through. So this year, I want to do it again. and of course, I am hoping for a weather redemtion. :)
Once again, I plan to dedicate my run to supporting recovery and the Gavin Foundation. The Gavin Foundation is a nonprofit agency providing comprehensive adult, youth and community substance abuse education, prevention and treatment programs. Established in South Boston in 1963, they now serve over 5,000 individuals each year from Massachusetts and beyond. Addiction is a chronic disease and its impact is far reaching. Every dollar raised for treatment, every opportunity to change the stigma around addiction and every time it is a little easier for someone to find recovery, is an immense victory. Please consider donating to my run and learning about the incredible work being done at the Gavin Foundation - http://www.gavinfoundation.org. Each day, people run their own personal marathon, I want to make crossing that finish line a little easier for everyone.
