About a year ago I ran a 10K and half marathon and it was one of the most challenging experiences of my life. As I reflected upon the lessons I learned about determination and persistence, a thought occurred to me. These are the qualities most often possessed by our nations teachers. During a time when budgets are tight and resources can be difficult to come by, our teachers must rely on the same qualities I found within myself on my running journey.
So, I’ve decided to do it again. However, this time I will be running a 5k, 10k, and half marathon for a total of 22.4 miles over three days. This time I want to give back to those who face each day with the same determination that I will need to face on my 22.4 mile journey. As someone who went to school to be an educator (though I am not now) and as the husband of a teacher, I realized that a worthy cause would be the education of our youth.
I am raising money to support the Teaching & Learning Collaborative. TLC helps promote math, sciences, and technology educators and education. The funds raised for TLC help to implement professional development programs as well as affordable educational materials to educators of grades PreK-12 mathematics and science.
Please help me support our teachers and STEM education. My goal is to raise $1,100 and every little bit helps. I and the Teaching & Learning Collaborative thank you for any donation you are able to make. For more information about TLC visit their website teachinglearningcollaborative.org, or find them on Facebook.
Once more thank you your support in helping me and this worthy cause!
