I'm running for NBGC's Fun Run and raising donations to support NBGC.
Update! The teens enjoyed the 1st day of learning at the Clubhouse on the River. They are currently reclining on the leather sofas, hanging pod and bag chairs in the dark "relaxing". They will be back in the morning - 7am and I will be waiting. I promised to get a microwave and make popcorn tomorrow.
I uploaded a few new photos of the space.
Please donate if you can, share with your friends and family. We can really use as much help as possible to make this space our new home while the Clubhouse is renovated..
BTW - we have the BEST Mailman! Edgar saw the construction fencing surrounding the Club and drove around looking for us! Super amazing!
I am very concerned that my kids (the NBGC Leaders) will struggle with the isolation while being at home doing virtual learning. Their social emotional needs are my number one priority. The Leaders are also missing the normal day to day engagement with their little friends.
I am happy to announce that the NBGC has a temporary home to serve the members while the Clubhouse is undergoing renovations. The new space is just across the street on Rockwell. We will be able to serve our K - 8th grade members as well as provide a safe space for the Leaders to do their classwork.
The space is amazing! It overlooks the Chicago river with exposed brick, polished cement floors, plenty of sunshine and space to socially distance. It even has a washer and dryer!
I had a meeting with the Leaders and they planned out their learning space. They asked if I can open at 7am so they are ready for their classes on time. They are so excited for this opportunity; how can we say no to that kind of request??
I am asking if everyone can to pitch in and help so that I have enough funds to cover the rent and internet costs, purchase industrial fogger/sprayers for cleaning, get alternative seating for learning and essential items for the kids to enjoy learning in the new space.
- Take a moment to donate what you can.
- Share my story with your friends and encourage them to donate.
- Create a virtual 5K Fun Run team of your own to tell your NBGC story and help us provide this opportunity for the kids.
