Janice Furtado is who we run for and with in our hearts every year. We are a gathering of friends and family that have gotten together every year to honor Janice an her dedication to this country and our Veterans.
Janice is a combat veteran who served for eight years in the U.S. Air Force, she was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Campaign Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster. She served actively in the Middle East and Asia and was redeployed for tsunami relief in Thailand. After her Honorable discharge she focused on Psychology and working closely with veterans with PTSD. A programs she was a pivotal part of was the "Train Vets to Treat Vets Program" which today has become a cornerstone model on how we confront the condition of PTSD in Combat Vets.
Most of all she was a kind heart and a beautiful soul who brightned all of our days. We are proud to carry on her legend collectively every year through the RUN TO HOME BASE event.
