Lace up your sneakers for a great cause this year! The #Love4Lucas campaign is working together with the annual Pound Ridge 5k to raise money for Lucas Harashima, a Pound Ridge Elementary School (PRES) first grader who is battling a rare and aggressive brain cancer.
When is the race? June 30, 2018 at 9am
Where is the race? The 5k will start at PRES (7 Pound Ridge Road, Pound Ridge, NY) and ends at the Pound Ridge Town Park (199 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge, NY)
How do I register? Click here to register for the 5k (your registration fee helps support the race itself, it is not a donation to #Love4Lucas)
How do I raise money? Click on the "Join the Team" button on this page to start your own fundraiser. You can send your page to friends and family, post it on social media, and get the word out that you're running (or walking) for Lucas this year. Ask them to sponsor your efforts. Every dollar raised will go towards Lucas' treatments.
(Please note that the PRES PTA is sponsoring this fundraiser so credit card charges will read PTA New York Congress. However all of the funds will be given to the Harashimas for Lucas' treatment.)
Who is Lucas? Lucas Harashima is a 6 year old boy who lives in Pound Ridge. In September 2016, Lucas was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), an inoperable cancer residing in the brainstem that typically occurs in children ages 5-10. He currently lives in Pound Ridge with his family. He travels often to Mexico for pioneering immunotherapy treaments that are not covered by the family's insurance. 100% of their travel and medical costs are out of pocket.
