This is a special year for me as a runner.
I have been a runner for 12 years, completing three marathons and numerous half marathons. I've been "Running United" for four years. And this is my first year — and first half marathon —as a mother.
Becoming a mom has taught me a lot of things about myself, and what matters to me. At the top of that list? The health and wellbeing of my son, Arlo.
Can you imagine what it would be like to not know how you're going to buy food or diapers for your baby? To know that you'll NEVER make enough to put your child into a good-quality child care?
This is a reality for 44% of families in Southeastern Michigan who struggle to afford basic needs like food, housing, child care, health care and transportation. And it's why I run to support United Way.
United Way works to help families meet their basic needs.
Your donations won't just support me as a runner; they'll support those families who are struggling just to get by. Thank you for your support!
