Welcome to the 4th Annual VIRTUAL Run to Remember 5K!
From April 24th through April 25th, the Arnold Air Society Mark Giles Danielson Squadron invites you to Run to Remember in memory of United States Air Force Second Lieutenant Benjamin J. Walder, who took his own life shortly after entering active duty.
Lt. Walder was a respected Air Force ROTC cadet and honored member of the Danielson Squadron before he commissioned through Colorado State University’s Detachment 090 in 2014.
The Danielson Squadron hosts this commemorative run every year to carry on his legacy for his family, friends, and those who have been impacted by suicide. Donors may choose to benefit the Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
This year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the run will be fully virtual.
How do I participate?
Step 1: Select your preferred charity – The Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County, whose efforts support the local area near the Danielson Squadron, or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, whose efforts extend across the United States.
Step 2: Donate to your selected charity. All donations are appreciated, no matter how much you can afford. A suggested donation of $25 will greatly assist suicide prevention efforts through your charity of choice.
Step 3: From midnight on April 24th to 11:59 on April 25th (MDT), run 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) on your route of choice.
Step 4: Tag us on Instagram! We’d love to share your experiences – if you take pictures or track your route through a running app, tag us @aas.mgd.squadron to get featured!
Step 5: Rest, recover, and remember why we’re running. Check out what The Alliance is doing to support suicide prevention in Larimer County, as well as some crisis tips from The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Thank you supporting suicide awareness and prevention through the 2021 Run to Remember. We hope to see you all (virtually) on April 24th and 25th!
