“Run with purpose, finish with pride.” – this is the slogan of the Marine Corps Marathon. When one of my friends shared an opportunity of running with Play4TheCure – a charity dedicated to cancer research, I immediately felt that was what I wanted to do. I wanted to put all my hard training during the summer time for a cause I am proud of and a race I truly passionate about. My maternal grandmother passed away due to bone cancer when I was young. Two years ago, two of my cousins were diagnosed with breast cancer. The younger one was suffered from a fracture in her leg after a fall. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer that had spread to her bones. It was totally a tragedy for my uncle’s family and a young beautiful college graduate just starting her career. After endless painful chemotherapy, luckily, both of them survived. But the damages to their bodies and souls caused by cancers would take years to heal in the future. As a previous researcher in biological and biomedical field, I truly believe that if everyone could make a little contribution to cancer research, together, we would win the battle against cancer; the world would become a better place without cancer. Please consider donating to this great cause. Thank you very much!
