Hi everyone, Thanks for visiting Andrew, Jason, and Kenia's LA Marathon fundraising page.
We'll cut right to the chase - homelessness in Los Angeles is a problem. In 2017, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority reported 57,794 homeless individuals in Los Angeles. We don't like that and are going to do 3 things to change it:
1. Introduce all of you to "My Friends Place"
This Hollywood organization works to inspire homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. Last year alone they helped 1,500 homeless youth ages 12-25 move toward a life of wellness, self-sufficiency, and a permanent exit from homelessness. They gave away more than 10,000 pairs of underwear, hired homeless youth as paid interns to introduce them to the work force, operated a free clothes closet, and put on weekly classes that covered everything from pre-natal nutrition to life skills and creative writing.
Essentially, they are really cool and making a big difference.
In case you were wondering, they are privately funded, not religiously affiliated, and just celebrated their 30th anniversary.
You can learn more about their mission here.
2. Raise $10,000 by convincing all of you to #DONATE
Here are all the reasons you should donate:
-It's tax deductible
-It will help homeless youth
-We will send you a VERY nice thank you letter
-You can take part in the LA Marathon without actually running the marathon
3. Run the LA Marathon
We hope that you don't just like our plan, but that you love it so much, you help us meet our goal of raising $10,000 for this incredible organization.
Okay, we have to go run so that we can actually finish this marathon - lots of love to you all!
