I'll be running the 2018 Cape Cod Trail Race, competing against 400 other runners who will be training and putting forward their best to meet the rough footing and arduous climbs over a distance nearly five miles longer than a marathon. I will be engaging in this challenging race to raise money for something very near and dear to me – youth mentoring. So much of who I am, and where I am at, has been shaped by caring adults in my life, from my high school biology teacher, my distance running coach, my dad, my aunt, my AmeriCorps supervisor... and the list goes on. And I have the opportunity to give back in the same kinds of ways – as a Big to my little brother Ken, through volunteering as an assistant running coach to high schoolers, and through my work and support of organizations like Generations Incorporated and Mass Mentoring Partnership. I am embarking on this 50K trail journey to raise awareness for the need for increased and strengthened developmental relationships for young people; and to raise funds for the important work of this mission to support Mass Mentoring Partnership. When you make a donation, you are strengthening relationships for young people. It is the mission of Mass Mentoring Partnership to fuel the movement to expand empowering youth-adult relationships for young people throughout Massachusetts. This means EVERY young person should have access to a supportive adult to help them reach their full potential. All 1.4 M in the state. And through your support, we will move ever closer to this target. I have completed several long distance events but this will be perhaps my most important run to date. Every dollar raised matters to those who can benefit from empowering youth-adult relationships. Thank you for your support.
