As many of you know, my sister, Merrill McKenzie Hannis, lost her life to breast cancer on April 10th. She had recently celebrated her 50th birthday. On Sunday, October 13th, I'll be participating in a "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" 10K run in Fredericksburg, VA with my mother, brother-in-law, and all four of Merrill's children, ages 9, 11, 13, and 16. Merrill ran cross country and track in high school and college, so this feels like a great way to honor her legacy, while raising funds for a cure. What can I say? Metastatic breast cancer is brutal. If you are able to do so, please consider making a donation, so that we may prevent other families from having to experience this terrible loss.
