Why Am I Running? Previously, I would have never dreamed of running more than a mile or two. However, over the past three years I have found that I actually love to run as part of my personal self care mental health routine—it provides much needed physical and mental escape. I have previously battled with anxiety and found that I am much less anxious, much more energetic, and have much higher self-esteem. This year I felt it was time to take on a bigger challenge and complete the Chicago Marathon. I don’t know what is in store, but I do know that running has helped me create an escape where I can forget about my worries, just listen to music and enjoy the weather and beautiful scenery.
Why NoStigmas? I have chosen to run for NoStigmas because mental health is an important aspect of healthy living. Everyone experiences mental struggles at some point in life, and having the support, tools, and knowledge to work through those struggles can make an incredible difference. As an organization, NoStigmas focuses on bringing that support and those tools to the community, so that those struggling can be an advocate for themselves and others. We are all in this life together and sometimes all you need to do is talk to somebody and realize that there are people out there who are willing to help. Please help us in reaching our $1000 goal. All donations will benefit NoStigmas programming.
