New Jersey Search and Rescue (NJSAR) provides highly trained volunteer search personnel throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and beyond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We do not charge for our services: it's an all volunteer organization with no established funding. This year, we've had to work hard. With people taking refuge in the woods from COVID-19, we've conducted more searches than we ever have.
This will be the third time I've run to raise money for NJSAR. The first time I tried, my goal was to get to 70 miles.
Last year I tried the same run and succeeded. This year is different...
Because of COVID-19, organized runs are hard to come by. Rather than push the limits of my endurance and sanity, my goal this year is to have fun. I've dusted off an old route from my second ultramarathon, an unsanctioned event and the most spectacular run I've ever done. The route follows 28 miles of ridgeline in the Shawangunk mountains. Basically everything you see in the picture above. I plan on starting just before sunrise on November 14th and finishing before sunset.
The money I raise will help the team cover overhead costs and purchase badly needed equipment. NJSAR is a 501(c)3 organization, so your contribution is tax deductible.
