There are two things I don't do very well, or very often (or not more than once a year)
1. Ask for money
With this request I am doing #1 and pledging to do #2.
1. I am asking you to donate funds to support the Genesee Land Trust. (30th Anniversary!) After being a member for many years and a Board member for almost as many, I am in the midst of my second and final year as President. At the Genesee Land Trust we do good things; helping farmers maintain their land for agriculture, working with municipalities to create parks. preserving vital habitat and connecting the city to nature. For example, you may be familiar with Corbett's Glen, Gosnell Big Woods, Alasa Farms(Crackerbox Palace), Island Cottage Woods and the El Camino Trail. In addition to land preservation the Land Trust promotes and facilitates activities that connect people with nature, and each other. Recently the Genesee Land Trust has taken a leadership role in convening stakeholders in the establishment in a Genesee River Alliance. This initiative is focusing a collaborative effort on embracing the Genesee River as a unique natural element that connects our region, rather than divides it.
2. In order to induce you to donate funds, I am committing to participate in the Run for Land. A 5k fundraiser run along the Genesee River, scheduled for October 19. I am asking you to sponsor me in this event. Mind you, the last time I ran was for this event last year. That performance made obtaining a personal best this year very achievable.
