I was scrolling FaceBook and saw that my mom had commented on a post from the Parkinson's Foundation that highlighted someone who ran the NYC marathon as a fundraiser. She said she wasn't a runner but if she were she would run in honor of her husband, my dad. When I read thought, "I can do that."
Earlier this year my dad was diagnosed with Atypical Parkinson's Disease. It was likely caused by exposure to Agent Orange in the Vietnam War. This year I will run the Outer Banks Marathon for him on Veteran's Day weekend and raise funds for research and support for patients.
So if you know my dad, or your life has been affected by Parkinson's, or you want to wish me Happy Birthday a little early, please consider donating.
