Hey everyone, You know how you always see me at the trail runs ... the guy taking pictures but never actually running? Well, that's about to change. On Sept. 15 I'm going to compete for the third time in the Flyathlon, an event that includes trail running and fly fishing. Many of you probably don't know that a) I can run a little, and b) I'm a much better fly fisherman than I am a runner. This event is a fund raiser for Trout Unlimited and other nonprofits that seek to protect our precious Colorado waterways and the beautiful fish that swim in them. So if you feel inclined, please contribute $10, or $20, or $100, or a lot more. Your money will be used wisely, protecting wild trout and maintaining our state's outdoor traditions. And the bonus for me is the melding of the fly fishing and trail running communities. I love that kind of stuff. About 60 folks will be running and fishing on the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, home to many trout with big shoulders, one of which I intend to catch, photograph and release. Special thanks to JT for offering up some excellent local beer. It's kind of a rule that all participants must bring good craft brew to share ... my status at the Flyathlon will go through the roof when I show up with a good quantity of the primo stuff. If you want to know more about the Flyathlon, give me a shout at tim.bergsten@gmail.com. Peace ... and thanks.
