Female Veterans sacrifice daily, not only for their country but for their families as well. This is why it is heart-wrenching to acknowledge the fact that there are currently about 55,000 homeless female Veterans in the United States.. Final Salute not only takes note of these horrific numbers, they are dedicated to identifying the need and doing all they can to give back to the powerful women that have courageously served our country. Many programs put in place for the homeless do not cater to the needs of women and their children. With rules that place restrictions on the amount or age of children, it can at times be very difficult for a struggling mother to find proper shelter in order to get back on her feet. As a result, many of them are left out or placed in unsafe situations and living arrangements. Unfortunately, this is the story for a number of female Veterans that have served and sacrificed for the country. It is not uncommon from them to be released from service only to feel as though no one is sacrificing for or serving them. This is where Final Salute steps up to make the difference and be the example. For $25 a day a female Veteran is able to receive housing. By housing, we mean more than just a roof over her head. This includes housing, case management, food, clothing, transportation, in-house financial education and counseling. So not only is Final Salute providing shelter, they are also enabling female Veterans to do better for themselves. This is more than just housing. It is an opportunity to learn the tools and skills needed in order to have a successful future. Every dollar, cent and prayer counts. Thank a female Veteran for her service by helping her to lead the life she deserves.
