The Rubber Huckies is an amateur Ultimate Frisbee team based in Seattle. For the last six years, we’ve brought together a group of people around one belief: that every person belongs. We recognize that we are all interconnected, on the field and off. We succeed and fail as a team, not as individuals.
And we recognize that undocumented and mixed-status families are important members of our team.
That’s why we have decided to raise funds for COVID-19 Relief for undocumented and mixed-status families in WA.
Undocumented folks show up to work every day in Washington and perform essential services that let many of us live the lives we’ve grown accustomed to. Our society would cease to function without our undocumented neighbors: they do the jobs that put food on our tables, ensure our elderly are cared for, and pay taxes to support all the key investments in infrastructure, education, and the social safety net that we rely on.
Yet they’ve been totally left out of Federal economic assistance which, although inadequate, is a critical lifeline to families across the country as they confront the personal financial impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. That’s not how you treat a teammate.
Our federal government has reneged on its responsibility to our teammates, so we’re stepping in.
Our goal is to raise $6,000 for the COVID-19 Relief Fund for Undocumented Individuals in Washington State. We invite you to become an “honorary Huckie” by joining us and contributing what you can today!
We are fundraising to support the Washington State Undocumented relief fund. You can learn more about the statewide efforts here.
Three ways you can support our campaign
1. Donate. No amount is too small nor too large.
2. Become a monthly donor.
3. Share. When sharing please include why it is personally important for you to support our undocumented community in Washington State during this time.
If you want to send a check please send us an email via email@example.com. If you want to make a donation via a donor-advised, or a Trust our EIN is 81-3153433 Scholar Fund (DBA: Scholarship Junkies)
** For logistics and transparency: Money raised will go directly to Scholarship Junkies, a registered 501(c)(3), who will disburse the money to directly impacted individuals and families who applied for assistance until all the funds raised are completely distributed. We are estimating that the distribution amounts will be between $500 - $1,000 per individual. We will be releasing a form for undocumented individuals and families to apply for assistance on Wednesday, April 8th, 2020, after donations have been made, to have a better sense of how much we are able to give to each individual.
