/r/Pokemon is a decade-old Pokémon fan community on Reddit. Today, we've passed one million subscribed members, and we decided to come together and support the real-world animals upon which one of the most iconic Pokémon is based!
/u/saltimmortalsea proposed that we save the Zubat in our charity nominations thread, found here: https://www.redd.it/8tqrrm.
Their suggestion, Bat Conservation International, was an easy winner. We've set the bar at $2,000 for now—let's smash it and go higher!
Here's some more information on BatCon, our awesome, Zubat-protecting beneficiary:
"BCI is dedicated to the enduring protection of the world’s 1300+ species of bats and their habitats and creating a world in which bats and humans successfully coexist. In pursuit of this vision, during the next five years BCI will work worldwide at scale with local, regional, national and multinational public and private partners to respond rapidly and effectively to bat conservation crises, preventing the extinction of threatened bats and the extirpation of globally significant populations of bats."

And here's more info on white-nose syndrome, the deadly condition threatening millions of bats:
"White-nose syndrome (WNS) is an emerging disease in North American bats which by 2012 was associated with at least 5–7 million bat deaths. The condition is named for a distinctive fungal growth around the muzzles and on the wings of hibernating bats and was first identified from a February 2006 photo taken in a cave in Schoharie County, New York. It has rapidly spread. By 2016, the fungus had been found in caves and mines of 29 states throughout the Northeastern US and 5 eastern Canadian provinces. In March 2016, it reached the West Coast, when it was confirmed in a little brown bat (Myotis lucifugus) in the state of Washington and in April 2017, it was found in several bat species in Texas, bringing the total number of infected states to 33"
