I will do anything to help support my students walking to school. One of the main reasons my students don't walk is because the roads aren't safe and cars don't slow down for children. To support my schools Safe Routes to School program we are working with and raising funds for WalkBoston a nonprofit that works to make communities more walkable. While doing a walk audit with Brendan Kearney of WalkBoston I shared my story of the School Xing sign constantly being run over. He said, "why don’t we try putting a photo of Tom Brady on it, to see if it still gets hit? Maybe cars would slow down.” So a couple months later we tried - and they did!
We shared the results with Steve Annear of the Boston Globe and now it is viral. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2017/12/06/teacher-uses-cut-outs-tom-brady-head-get-cars-slow-down-outside-his-school/LSPj4NU1RRW3J9kH3IdyMP/story.html

I’m raising money for WalkBoston so they can work with other people and schools in Boston neighborhoods like Roxbury to help improve the safety of students walking in underserved neighborhoods. Thanks for your support!
