A month ago, as a part of our COVID-19 response, we opened our Client Support Fund to formerly-incarcerated and systems-impacted people in California and South Carolina in need of basic necessities. Justice-impacted people are among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic— many are experiencing heightened insecurity with respect to employment, housing, and healthcare in addition to the barriers and stigma associated with having a conviction history. Without financial resources for basic necessities (food, clothing, medicine, shelter), people cannot survive.
Since then, we’ve awarded $25,000 to support 490 people in obtaining essential necessities through our Client Support Fund.
"Thank you so very much. That will be used to buy pulls ups and wet wipes for my four year old son Douglas. I can also buy him some playdough and drawing paper. Thank you for giving the fight by keeping hope alive"
