Rockridge Equine Rest and Retirement took a direct hit from the LNU Lightning Complex Fire.
As the fire reached the property line, several volunteers arrived after a 3 hour drive from Woodside with minutes to spare. 20+ horses were loaded in 10 minutes and evacuated. We would like to express our gratitude by at least paying the expenses to make the trip (No truck/trailer volunteer has asked for reimbursement).
Thanks to Sonoma Horse Park, our 20-some horses have had a home for 2 weeks, along with other refugees. We've been provided with feed, shavings, stalls, and an RV spot (once we were able to return to get it). Rockridge hopes to use funds raised from this campaign to make another donation to the horse park.
Amazingly, many of the critical structures on the Rockridge property remain intact. However, we're not without scars from the fight. Pastures are damaged, and fencing, gates, water lines, and a 4000 gal water tank need to be replaced. The remainging funds from this campaign will go towards repairs for Rockridge Equine Rest and Retirement.
So many people have endured far worse as a result of these fires, and we are incredibly fortunate and thankful to be in the position we are with our property and with our community support. Thank you to everybody.
