Sofia was born 8 weeks premature and had significant general low tone. She started weekly physical therapy sessions at 6 months of age and learn how to walk by using a walker at 26 months. Her general low tone still held her back from being active with her peers as she had difficulty keeping up with her friends on the playground. Climbing, running and jumping coordination was not a strength and made Sofia very frustrated during activities. It was suggested to us that we seek out Hippotherapy and Lovelane was highly recommend as the place to go.
Since Sofia started Hippotherapy in February 2017 her strength has afforded her to run faster, have a strong posture with increased core control, and increased social skills. Her strength has allowed her to play more actively with her peers (she plays soccer and basketball) and she is currently working on mastering the monkey bars.
Besides riding at Lovelane, Sofia especially enjoys her time during "Barn Buddies" where she is paired with a volunteer to assist in barn chores. Sofia's favorite task is to groom the horses, in particular her favorite horse "Rocket".
As a family we are so very grateful for the amazing staff at Lovelane and the compassion and guidance they have shown to Sofia.
