A Scholarship Focused on Education, Rochester Johnson Sr, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Leadership Collation organization referred to as IMALC was founded 34 years ago by Rochester Johnson, Sr. This organization is an affiliate of the Renaissance Wives Inc. which is a 501c3 corporation. The organization is the nucleus that keeps all organization connected in the City of Dothan to needs of the community. One of the main focuses of the organization are the Martin Luther King, Jr events in the city. The organization hosts a weekend full of events that commemorate the life of Dr. King. There is also a scholarship banquet that is done yearly to help students matriculate through college. Helping students is so important because Dr. King and Rev. Johnson both believed in education. Dr. King obtained his doctorate degree when he was 26 and Rev. Johnson was the first in the nation to finish school in three years by benefiting from the upward bound program. They spent their lives trying to educate others to become the best they could be. IMALC tries to invest in our children and in the lives of our community.
