Robin Kansaku lost a long battle with cancer on Thursday, April 29th, 2021 at the age of 63. She fought a very long battle with myo liposarcoma (Liposarcoma is a rare type of cancer that begins in the fat cells. Liposarcoma is considered a type of soft tissue sarcoma. Liposarcoma can occur in fat cells in any part of the body). We thought that the cancer was gone and when it made its comeback she was devastated. After multiple rounds of radiation and more rounds of chemotherapy than we can count, her body was racked beyond recognition. After being racked with mindnumbing pain and physical changes, she made the very tough decision to go onto Hospice.
Now if you knew my mom at all, you would know that she was an incredibly independant person and wanted to keep her independance as long as medically possible. She made the decision two weeks prior to death to finally give in and go on hospice care. She fought as long as her body would allow before the tumors in her body overcame her will and she was welcomed into Heaven to join her parents and fellow siblings.
Knowing that this disease is incurable and knowing first hand what the disease does to a person, I hope that you find it in your heart to support the Sarcoma Cancer Research to ensure that someone elses mom does not suffer the same fate as my mom did.
