For the past six years I've had the pleasure of working with BAGLY as the Director of Operations. The organization has seen substantial growth over these years (including recently opening a 5,000 square foot community center in downtown Boston!) and I'm excited for support generated through this event.
My six years at BAGLY as recently come to a close as I begin the new adventure of graduate school to pursue my MBA (eep). So the timing is perfect as three of my favorite things collide - lifting, supporting queer youth, and Acheive - and provide the opportunity for one last thank you gift to BAGLY.
My goal is $600. My ask is for donations of 6$, $12, $24, $30, or $60.
I'm ambitiously hoping to lift a total of 600lbs between a deadlift, bench press, and back squat.
Why increments of 6?
6 is for:
The number of years I spent at this organization working with amazing people and youth.
The number of annual events BAGLY host every year for young people across Massachusetts, including the Trans Youth Summit and MA Youth Pride
The number of weeks that BAGLY will be providing it's new Transgender and Non-binary therapy group and health initiative this year. Our youth spoke and we worked to meet their need of increased support groups and therapy geared specifically toward transgender and non-binary youth. Over the next three years BAGLY will be incrementally launching six-week cycles of group and art therapy sessions, increasing in frequency each year. These session will be vital as they directly address breaking down the barriers many young trans folks face when trying to access competent and informed care for mental and physical health.
I hope you consider donating. If you can't donate, consider volunteering at the event! Or simply come spectate! I hope to see you there!
