Tonight, 15,553 families (over 23,000 children!) will sleep in homeless shelters. 2.6M New Yorkers cannot afford a Thanksgiving meal.
Today, I am asking my community to come together and make an impact by giving what you can to help these families-in-need and to share our cause with others.
Two days before Thanksgiving, at Pier 60 @Chelsea Piers, more than 500 volunteers will pack and deliver to over 6,000 homeless shelter families throughout New York City, a box filled with a frozen turkey and all the fixings, including a handmade holiday card.
The experiential aspect of being able to cook and host their own Holiday meal plus knowing that somebody cares about them, inspires the shelter moms to hope and the kids to dream.
To date, FeedingNYC has fed and impacted over 75,000 NYC shelter families - but there is still so much more we can do for these families as a community, especially for the children who are the forgotten faces of homelessness in NYC.
For 2018, we are taking an even wider stand by aiming to feed and impact more families-in-need. We are also doing more with the Women in Need shelters in January to catch these inspired dreams so they can turn into tangible goals. In order to do and feed more, we are aiming to raise $400k this year.
On behalf of the families-in-need, we thank you for your support!
