Because cancer doesn’t stop, neither can we. Let’s rally as Road to Recovery volunteers and supporters to donate to the American Cancer Society to help ensure support programs like rides to treatment will continue even after the virus subsides. As a critical volunteer to the American Cancer Society, please consider donating any amount possible, even the cost of what you would have spent on a tank of gas, while our transportation programs are on hold. If you cannot donate because of financial uncertainty or hardship due to the virus, please know that is ok – take care of yourself. The challenge we face is that cancer was here before this virus, cancer is continuing during this virus and sadly, we will still be battling cancer after this virus is no longer a threat. Which is why it is crucial that the American Cancer Society can continue operating after this virus has passed to continue offering programs that directly help cancer patients and families.
The American Cancer Society is facing one of the most difficult times in its 107 year history, as many resources and donations are being redirected to where it’s needed most at this time – to support and combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and rightly so. This virus has changed the way of life for so many, and its impact will be felt for a long time.
As the COVID-19 pandemic grows larger every day, many cancer patients who already have compromised immune systems - are more vulnerable than ever. A lot of the funds we raise to help them comes from our in-person events, like Relay For Life, Coaches vs. Cancer, Galas, Bark For Life, and so many other community fundraisers - but we have canceled all fundraising events for the next couple of months to help keep people safe. But cancer patients still need us. They still need you. Because cancer research can’t stop. Our 24/7 helpline 1-800-227-2345 can’t stop. We can keep the fight against cancer going with your donations. Please donate today to help us make up the gap.
