We are turning to you as a respected supporter of the community and/or because you have previously expressed concern for our security needs. Regretfully, until COVID-19 passes, which could be months away, we can no longer rely on RMD dollars to fund our current security initiative. Loss of RMD income from COVID-19 has been substantial ($50K to $75K per month) reducing the monies that would have been allocated for essential investments and upgrades to our security.
This critical security initiative has become an urgent need. Unfortunately, as tensions build and crime increases in our society and also towards religious organizations, RMD becomes a more vulnerable target. As you may have heard, we had three threatening events on Barsana Hill just last winter.
We are seeking $96,000 (tax deductible) immediately to implement Phase 1 of our Security and Safety Plan for RMD.
Phase 1 - Part A
Install a commercial quality CCTV surveillance system at the front gate and ground floor of the temple, both interior and exterior, with surveillance monitors at key locations: $26,000
Install a commercial quality outdoor camera system around the grounds, repair perimeter fence and add perimeter signage, upgrade interior grounds signage, retain operations manager to execute plan, and a specialized law firm to deal with security matters: $25,000
Phase 1 - Part B
Harden lobby with security film, auto-locking doors, ballistic material, alarm system, add more CCTV cameras to the system, upgrade campus lighting, add predictive intelligence software (monitoring of online “negative chatter"), upgrade radios and communication, training of RMD leadership, staff and residents, and more: $45,000
A detailed spreadsheet of our current RMD Security Plan with the allocation of funds is available. Please email a member of the committee (see below) if you would like to review it. Since the need is so critical, we have already started to implement our plan with the vital repair of our perimeter fence (significantly damaged in a flood) from early donations.
Phase 2 is also a critical component of our long-term security efforts. We are happy to report RMD has been awarded a Department of Homeland Security Grant for $100,000. However, it will be months before this funding may become available. The monies delegated for Phase 2 will not replace our immediate need for $96,000 to complete Phase 1.
You are one of a select group of supporters to whom we are appealing. Please consider a generous donation to RMD’s safety and security. Any gift, large or small, will help. Whether $10,000, $1,000 or $100, everything is welcomed and will make RMD a much safer place for decades to come.
Members of the Security Steering Committee would be happy to have a meeting or call with you to address any questions or concerns you may have. It is inspiring to others to see the list of donors on the GoFundMe Charity site but, if you prefer, you can opt out to maintain anonymity. Your tax-deductible donation will be earmarked for our Security Plan only.
We thank you for your contribution.
Jai Shree Radhey,
