At Spectrum Fusion we are shaping the future of neurodiversity and smashing the stereotypes of autistic adults. Spectrum Fusion does not charge participants to be a part of our programs. Rather, we rely solely on sponsorships, grants, and private donations. We need your help in raising $100,000 to empower autistic adults to continue to thrive, grow, and develop independence.
Why This is Important for Mental Health
Adults on the autism spectrum have skills, talents, hopes, and dreams for the future. Sadly, many of these individuals are isolated and disconnected from society without any chance of transitioning to a life as independent adults. Autistic adults are in a high-risk category for suicide as they lose hope of finding permanent employment and fall into despair. One way to offset this tragic outcome is to provide meaningful opportunities for autistic adults that lead to financial independence. We need people who care about the future of autistic adults to join us in our mission.
"I used to be depressed every day until I came across an article in the Houston Chronicle about Spectrum Fusion. Now, I am part of Spectrum Fusion Media and contributing my talents to the team." — Adam Butts
Heidi Stieglitz Ham, PhD, is the CEO and founder of Spectrum Fusion®, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization empowering adults on the autism spectrum to reach their full potential.
We Value Every Human Being
The skills and talents of autistic adults are an asset and benefit to society, and it is our responsibility not to squander these talents. It is time for every human being to be valued for who they are, and it is our responsibility to provide opportunities for autistic adults so that they can reach their full potential. No brain is the same. This is the idea of neurodiversity, where we value the thinking styles of every human being.
The predominant stereotype of an autistic adult is one who excels in math, science, and computer programming. However, we need to consider the rest of the spectrum, including the artists, scriptwriters, actors, videographers, editors, illustrators, graphic designers, musicians, and inventors. The creative talents of autistic adults are often minimized, overlooked, and dismissed. However, creativity is a powerful asset and a trait that is sought after around the world.
"Even though I have a degree from the Art Institute of Houston, I was unable to even find an internship. Spectrum Fusion has turned my life around." — Philip Thomas
How Spectrum Fusion Helps
Spectrum Fusion is entering its 4th year as the only Houston area organization which operates as an InnovationHub that creates solutions for creative autistic adults through our programs including Spectrum Fusion Media and the Reactor Room Program®. Spectrum Fusion brings this creative talent together to offer innovative solutions to businesses and society through Spectrum Fusion Media. Spectrum Fusion Media is a team of autistic adults that provides media services to corporations, including Johnson & Johnson.
How You Can Help Empower Autistic Adults
We value our participants and we want to compensate them for projects.
Our media team requires equipment that will allow our participants to increase the quality of their productions and lead to future projects and clients.
Spectrum Fusion collaborates with universities, businesses, and innovators across the Houston area to create novel solutions to address the social challenge of unemployment for adults on the autism spectrum. Dr. Ham launched the Reactor Room Program®, the first shark tank/think tank for autistic adults designed to create connections for adults on the spectrum who have ideas for inventions or entrepreneurship.
We are now seeking $100,000 to be spent over the course of 2021 to further develop our neurodiversity programs by paying our adults for their services, paying for Spectrum Fusion Media equipment, and support of our Wings program. Please join us in our mission to give adults on the autism spectrum a chance to thrive, grow, and develop independence.
Your donation may be made here or at www.spectrumfusion.org. Please help us Rise Up by empowering autistic adults to rise above the barriers.
