Please join me in supporting Right2Thrive. Right2Thrive is an organization that attempts to break the cycle of poverty in Kenya through education and empowerment. It was started in 2009, after an American, Janet Paltry, spent several weeks volunteering at a children’s home in Kenya. When she returned to the United States, she started the nonprofit to try to help improve the living conditions for the children. In 2012, Janet moved to Kenya (where she still is) so that she could better help the children, and expand the organization.
Right2Thrive has several programs that directly benefit children:
-Full academic scholarships: More than 50% of adults in Dagoretti, Kenya are unemployed and unable to pay school fees. Right2Thrive provides scholarships to students who would otherwise not be able to attend school. Additionally, they provide mentoring; tutoring; medical support; housing (if necessary), and act as liaison with the school to ensure these students achieve success.
-Youth empowerment program: In addition to providing schooling to scholarship students, Right2Thrive works within the local population to teach life skills, music, arts, and sports to hundreds of youth.
-Economic empowerment program: Recognizing that whole families must be involvedto truly break the cycle of poverty, Right2Thrive has programs to teach adults basic life skills and business training. Additionally, there are several programs to support women and mothers, including mentoring and training women to enable them to start their own business.
Any amount that you can give would be greatly appreciated!!
