I will be in the hospital the week of September 28th for various EEG testings. I thought what better way to spend the time than fundraising for Experience Camps, a cause near and dear to my heart. I had the privilege to volunteer at Experience Camps the past two summers (one being virtual) and it truly is the Best Week of the Year. It is a free, one week camp for kids who have experienced the loss of a parent, guardian, or sibling. As most of you know, I lost my dad four years ago and Experience Camps has been the only way that I’ve been able to find solace. I went to camp hoping to help others and found that it helped me even more. I am now fundraising on behalf of this special place. I'm hoping to raise $2,500 through this fundraiser. For every $25 donated I will ride a mile, totaling 100 miles (20 miles a day) by the end of the week. I realize this is a laudable goal however, I also know I will be inspired by Experience Camps every day!!!

Experience Camps are nationally recognized summer camps for grieving children, ages 9-17, who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or caregiver. We give grieving children experiences that will change their lives forever. With nearly 5 million children in the US currently grieving the loss of a close family member, the need is enormous.
Experience Camps operates summer camp programs in 10 locations nationwide, and provides ongoing opportunities throughout the year for support, connection and community. We reframe the experience of grief and empower our campers to develop invaluable coping skills that enable them to move forward with their lives.
Since 2009, Experience Camps has transformed the lives of thousands of children by bringing light to the profound darkness of grief. We offer a community where kids can laugh, cry, play, create, honor the memory of the person who died or forget the grief that weighs them down. It's a home away from home. And just about everyone will tell you... "It's the best week of the year."
