On May 15, Joe Nilsestuen, Carter Jones, Amanda Sweet, Jacob Fraser, and Nathan Brewton will Ride for the Red in suport of the American Red Cross.
This marks the third year of the ride for a couple of us and second year in a row that we will ride safely, virtually. Hopefully next year we will be back outside, stopping for cookies and petting alpacas...
Since 2019 our rides have raised over $7,000. We appreciate those that are able to financially support this campaign, those that volunteer and give blood, and those that do any number of other things to support the mental and physical wellbeing of their families, friends, and neighbors.
Joe and Carter are both Board Members with the Western Los Angeles chapter of the Red Cross. They can talk about all the things that the Red Cross does. Much of it you are already aware of, including blood drives and disaster relief for hurricanes or wildfires.
What moves us though, is the support volunteers provide every day to our local communities. If your apartment burns down tonight, and you are sitting on the street, in the dark with your family, with nothing left and nowhere to go - a volunteer from the Red Cross will get a call, get out of bed, and find you and make sure you have somewhere to go, to sleep, food, and clothing. That is not an exagerration. It has been a remarkable experience connecting the generosity of donors with the people who need it most. This ride honors all of those volunteers and your donations will make their efforts possible. Thank you!
